Spatial Evolutionary and Ecological Vicariance Analysis.This software package, authored by Einar Heiberg (www.heiberg.se), processes data gathered from species or individuals in a spatial, taxonomic, and/or phylogenetic context using the Spatial Evolutionary and Ecological Vicariance Analysis methodology developed by Lena Struwe, Peter Smouse, Richard Lathrop, and Scott Haag at Rutgers University. SEEVAIn contrast to traditional vicariance biogeography, which assumes geographic separation of populations, the Spatial Evolutionary and Ecological Vicariance Analysis approach allows researchers to look at sympatric ecological vicariance of species and clades. This method utilizes GIS-derived dataset of collection-associated ecological and environmental data in combination with phylogenetic data to investigate trends in speciation using statistical methods.
